Instagram Stretched Truth to Close Facebook Deal

Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom, in documents obtained by the New York Times, appears to have “stretched the truth” in order to close their $1 billion acquisition by Facebook last year. He testified at a California Department of Corporations Fairness Hearing last August, that Instagram had not received “any formal offers or term sheets” immediately preceding negotiations with Facebook. Reliable news reports of a $500 million plus offer from Twitter and a term sheet for a $50 million round were in Instagram’s possession shortly before the Facebook offer was received. VentureBeat

Telsa Charging Stations Go Live

Tesla Motors conducted ribbon cuttings at its previously announced SuperCharger charging stations on Friday. Six solar powered locations were opened; Folsom Premium Outlets, Harris Ranch in Coalinga, Gilroy Premium Outlets, Barstow, Tejon Ranch in Lebec and Hawthorne. Owners of the Model S can recharge their vehicles in about 30 minutes, no word on other Tesla models. The locations were selected to enable EV driving along the LA-SF and LA-LV corridors – GigaOM
